Trust, data use and limits

Order data and optional AI features
The application stores account and usage records. Async jobs also store their submitted order and result so the job can be retrieved later. Questions about storage region, retention or deletion? Contact Stoa Logistics before sending sensitive order data.
Only when you send custom_instructions or set ai_review: true do item, box and packing data go to the external AI provider selected by configuration. The active provider depends on configuration and the request.
The core packing request can run without those AI stages: omit custom_instructions and leave ai_review false, its default. See the API guide for request fields and behavior.
Product limits and review
StoaPack returns a proposed packing plan. Your system should inspect the outcome lists and handle unpacked items rather than treating a successful response as proof every unit was packed.
Supported instructions cover separation, box assignments and fill caps. Same-box grouping, heavy-bottom placement and routing instructions are not supported. Nesting is limited to one level per site, skips hazmat containers and cannot be combined with custom instructions.
Hazmat checks are decision support, not shipment certification. The conservative package policy gives each dangerous-good item type its own box, including different SKUs that share a UN number, and does not mix non-hazmat goods into those boxes. This can increase package count; shared classes or UN numbers do not establish chemical compatibility. Lithium batteries by air are unsupported.
Review current request limits and response behavior in the API guide, and inspect supported references through hazmat coverage. For the shipper scope and examples, see hazmat-aware checks.
